Walking in the Power of the Holy Spirit:
Your Guide to Supernatural Living in 2026
As we step into 2026, there's an incredible opportunity before us to experience God's power in ways we've never imagined. The same Holy Spirit that rested upon Jesus at His baptism is available to fill and empower us today.
What Happened When Jesus Was Baptized?
When Jesus emerged from the waters of baptism, Matthew 3:16 tells us that "the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descend like a dove coming to rest on him." The key word here is "remained" - the Holy Spirit didn't just visit Jesus momentarily; He stayed.
This same Holy Spirit who remained with Jesus wants to remain with you. Every step you take this year should be taken in consideration of His presence. You don't need to tiptoe around, afraid He'll leave, but rather live with such awareness of His value that you want Him involved in every aspect of your life.
How Many Miracles Did Jesus Perform?
In just 3.5 years of ministry (1,277.5 days), Jesus performed 37-40 recorded miracles. But John 21:25 reveals something remarkable: "Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. If they were all supposed to be written, the books could not contain them."
Jesus performed both community miracles (feeding thousands, calming storms) and individual miracles (healing the blind, raising the dead). Each miracle had a ripple effect, impacting not just the immediate recipient but generations to come.
Can You Do Greater Works Than Jesus?
Here's the most astounding promise in Scripture: In John 14:12, Jesus said, "Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do. And greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father."
This isn't just wishful thinking - it's a direct promise from Jesus. The same resurrection power that raised Christ from the dead lives in you. The question isn't whether God can do miracles through you, but whether you believe He will.
Understanding the Holy Spirit With You and In You
Jesus promised in John 14:16-17 that the Father would give us a helper who would be both "with you" and "in you." There's a beautiful distinction here:
The Holy Spirit in you is for your personal encouragement, growth, and transformation
The Holy Spirit with you is for everyone around you - your family, coworkers, and community
Just like offering gum to others when you have a pack, the Holy Spirit's presence in your life should overflow to bless those around you.
How Did Jesus Overcome Temptation?
After His baptism, Jesus was led into the wilderness for 40 days of testing. He faced hunger, wild animals, and direct temptation from Satan. Yet He emerged victorious through three key strategies:
1. He Knew the Word of God
When tempted, Jesus responded with "It is written..." The Scripture wasn't on His phone - it was hidden in His heart. How well do you know God's Word? Can you quickly recall verses when facing temptation?
2. He Submitted to God
James 4:7 instructs us to "submit yourselves therefore to God." Jesus chose God's way over the easy way out, even when Satan offered Him everything without the cross.
3. He Resisted the Devil
Jesus didn't passively hope temptation would go away. He actively resisted, saying "Be gone, Satan!" When we resist the devil, he must flee.
What Does It Mean to Fast from Negativity?
This year, consider fasting not from food, but from negative words and thoughts. This means:
Refusing to speak negatively about yourself, your family, your church, or your nation
Taking captive every thought that contradicts God's Word
Replacing negative speech with Scripture and truth
Setting a guard over your mouth through the Holy Spirit's power
The goal isn't perfection but awareness - becoming conscious of how our words and thoughts either align with or oppose God's truth.
How Can You Prepare for Supernatural Living?
As you enter this new year, consider these practical steps:
Study God's Word Daily: Your spiritual sword needs sharpening. Know Scripture well enough to use it as both defense and offense.
Expect Miracles: Don't just hope for one miracle this year - anticipate them daily. Both personal miracles and community-wide moves of God.
Stay Filled with the Holy Spirit: Ask for fresh filling regularly. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to you.
Share What You Receive: Don't keep God's goodness to yourself. Like offering gum to others, freely give what you've freely received.
Life Application
This week, commit to living with heightened awareness of the Holy Spirit's presence in your life. Begin each day asking Him to fill you afresh and set a guard over your mouth. When faced with temptation to speak or think negatively, immediately replace those thoughts with Scripture.
Challenge yourself to expect at least one way God will work through you to bless someone else each day. Remember, the Holy Spirit in you is for your growth, but the Holy Spirit with you is for everyone you encounter.
Questions for Reflection:
On a scale of 1-7, how many days this week am I actively aware of the Holy Spirit's presence?
What specific scriptures do I need to memorize to combat my most common temptations?
How can I make room for the Holy Spirit to work through me to impact others?
What "greater works" is God calling me to believe Him for this year?
The lion of Judah is roaring over the body of Christ in 2026. His people will arise in praise, power, and authority. The question is: will you join the roar?
