Trust Is My Worship: Making Faith Your Foundation for 2026

As we step into a new year, there's a powerful truth that can transform how we approach every challenge, every waiting season, and every moment of uncertainty: trust is worship. This isn't just a nice sentiment—it's a foundational principle that can revolutionize your relationship with God.

You Were Created to Worship

Before we dive into trust as worship, let's establish something crucial: you were made to worship. It's literally in your DNA. When God formed you in your mother's womb, He wired you with the capacity and calling to bring Him glory through your unique expression.

According to 1 Peter 2:9, "You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light."

Your expression of worship is unique to you, and God loves that about you. Maybe you've convinced yourself that you're "not a worshiper," but that's simply not true. Worship is the expression of reverence and adoration, and it involves all of you—not just singing songs on Sunday morning.

What Does It Mean That Trust Is Worship?

When we say "trust is worship," we're talking about something much deeper than intellectual agreement. Trust is a firm belief in God's reliability, His ability, and His strength. It's believing that He can handle whatever you're facing.

It's easy to say you trust God when life is smooth. But what about when your car gets hit in a parking lot? What about when God speaks something to you and then you wait... and wait... and wait some more? In those moments, is trust still your worship?

Trust as a Foundation Stone

Trust needs to be a foundation stone in your life. But how do you increase your trust? Psalm 37:3 gives us the answer: "Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and feed on His faithfulness."

Notice that "feed on His faithfulness" is a command. Just like you can feed your physical body with healthy food or junk food, you can feed your spirit man in ways that cause growth and acceleration in your faith.

How to Feed on God's Faithfulness

Study the Stories in Scripture

When you open God's Word and look at the stories, you begin to see who He is and how He works. You read about walls falling down around cities, about provision in the wilderness, about healing and deliverance. As you study these accounts, you begin to think, "If God can do that for them, what could He do for me?"

Learn His Names and Character

Every name of God reveals an aspect of who He is that He wants you to understand. Have you spent time studying His names? Do you know His character—what He will do and what He will not do? This knowledge cements within you an understanding that allows your foundation of trust to be solid and unmovable.

Rehearse His Testimonies

The Bible doesn't command us to keep a testimony of what the enemy is doing, but we are commanded to rehearse and share the testimonies of God's wonderful works. We're supposed to give them to one another for encouragement.

The Christmas Story: A Picture of Trust as Worship

The Christmas story gives us beautiful examples of people who made trust their worship. Consider Simeon and Anna from Luke 2.

Simeon's Patient Trust

Simeon was a respected religious leader in Jerusalem who had been promised by the Holy Spirit that he would see the Messiah before he died. He lived his entire life with expectation, waiting and trusting that God would do what He said He would do.

When the Holy Spirit prompted him to go to the temple, he obeyed. There he encountered Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus. Without hesitation, he recognized this child as the promised Messiah and prophesied over Him. His trust in God's promise allowed him to recognize the Savior when others missed Him entirely.

Anna's Devoted Waiting

Anna was a prophetess who had been a widow for 84 years. She spent day and night in the temple, fasting and praying, waiting for the Messiah. When she saw Jesus, she immediately gave thanks and spoke about Him to everyone who was looking for redemption in Jerusalem.

Both Simeon and Anna were pictures of making trust their worship. They believed what God told them and stood strong in His faithfulness, no matter how long they had to wait.

Trust Brings Favor and Recognition

Because Simeon and Anna walked in perfect trust, they didn't miss the Savior. They experienced favor because of their trust. When we trust God completely, we position ourselves to recognize His movement and receive His favor in our lives.

Practical Ways to Make Trust Your Worship

Daily Choose to Put On Trust

Every day, you have to choose to walk in trust. Say, "I choose to trust You, O Lord, no matter what." This means relying on God rather than your own abilities.

Live Kingdom-Minded

Choose to live with a kingdom perspective rather than being limited by what you can see in the natural. Be obedient to God's promptings, even when they don't make sense to your mind.

Practice Radical Dependence

Your radical dependence upon God is actually the highest form of honor and praise you can give Him. When you depend on Him completely, you're worshiping Him with your life.

Waiting with Expectation

Just as Simeon and Anna were waiting for the Messiah's first coming, we're waiting for His return. Are you looking with expectancy? Are you believing that He's actually going to come again?

The Lord is not slack concerning His promises. He does what He says He will do. Your heart needs to be full and ready for what He wants to do.

Life Application

As we enter 2026, make this your challenge: Get so fed on God's faithfulness that you become "overweight" with it. Make trust as natural as breathing. Make trust your worship.

This week, commit to feeding on His faithfulness daily. Study His character, rehearse His testimonies, and choose trust in every situation—whether big or small. When challenges come, let your first response be trust rather than worry.

Ask yourself these questions:

In what areas of my life am I struggling to trust God completely?

How can I better feed on God's faithfulness this week?

What promises has God given me that I need to stand on with unwavering trust?

How can I make my dependence on God a form of worship in my daily life?

Remember, trust is not just believing God can do something—it's believing He will do what He has promised, and worshiping Him through that belief regardless of what you see in the natural. Make 2026 the year you know Him so well that you worship Him through your complete and utter trust.
